On Wednesday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration confirmed that the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine meets the requirements for emergency use authorization. If approved today, it means scientists have developed 12 emergency-use or approved vaccines for use across the globe in less than 12 months – a process that typically takes more than ten years.
