Governance That Scales with AI

As enterprises scale AI, platforms and complex supplier ecosystems, governance has become a board-level imperative. This acceleration, combined with mission-critical transformation and rising compliance demands, is increasing enterprise-wide risk and operational complexity.

Without structured, disciplined governance, organizations face value leakage, inconsistent performance and avoidable strategic and operational risk.

ISG helps you establish AI-enabled, data-driven governance that strengthens compliance, improves performance and ensures accountability across suppliers, platforms, CMDB environments and AI initiatives. Our approach accelerates execution while protecting the value of your technology investments.

Whether your operating model is in-house, outsourced or hybrid, we enable consistency, transparency and measurable outcomes with confidence and clarity.

Scale Erodes Control

Visibility and control erode as supplier networks, contracts and AI initiatives multiply. Even mature organizations lose the thread. Ungoverned at scale, these pressures compound.

Governance - Scale Erodes Control

Value Erosion

Billing errors, unused services, missed credits and weak contract enforcement drain millions before anyone notices. Erosion alone can reduce 15-30% of total contract value.

Vendor Complexity

Hundreds of suppliers, fragmented ownership and inconsistent governance leave leaders without a single view of risk or performance.

Procurement Capability Gaps

Sourcing demand rises faster than headcount. Teams absorb the pressure and strategic work slips.

AI Risk & Compliance

AI adoption outpaces the accountability, controls and regulatory readiness needed to scale it safely.

Limited Executive Visibility

Decisions get made without trusted data, performance insight or a clear line of sight into risk.

Governance Solutions for Suppliers, Spend and Procurement & AI

Effective governance is how enterprises realize value, manage risk and lift performance across suppliers, procurement, spend and AI. Choose an entry point that matches your priority.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an enterprise vendor management office (EVMO), and do we need one if we already have procurement?

An EVMO is a centralized function that governs vendor performance, contracts, spend and risk across your whole supplier estate. Procurement sources and negotiates deals.

An EVMO governs what happens after signature, where most value is won or lost. If you run a large, complex portfolio without a single view of supplier performance and risk, the two functions complement each other rather than overlap.

What is the difference between supplier relationship management and contract lifecycle management?

SRM governs the relationship: performance, risk, value and day-to-day management of the supplier. CLM governs the contract itself: obligations, renewals and compliance across the agreement's life. You need both. A contract you don't actively manage still erodes value, and a supplier relationship with no contractual teeth has nothing behind it. ISG governs across both.

How much value do enterprises lose to contract value erosion, and where does it come from?

Value erosion commonly runs 15 to 30 percent of total contract value. It comes from billing errors, unused or duplicated services, missed service credits, unmanaged renewals and weak contract enforcement. Most of it stays invisible without active governance, which is why it accumulates quietly. Invoice forensics and ongoing contract governance recover it and stop it recurring.

How quickly can invoice forensics recover value?

Fast, by design. We review vendor invoices against contractual obligations to surface billing errors, duplicate charges, missed credits and overpayments, often finding recoverable value in the first review cycle. It runs with minimal disruption to your team and delivers measurable savings without a long transformation program.

What is Third-party risk management (TPRM), and how does governance support regulations like DORA?

TPRM is the discipline of identifying, monitoring and mitigating the risks your suppliers introduce, from operational and financial exposure to security and compliance. Regulations such as DORA raise the bar, holding you accountable for the resilience of critical third parties. Strong vendor governance gives you the supplier visibility, controls and evidence those regimes require, so compliance becomes a byproduct of how you already operate.

Can you govern AI and suppliers together, or are they separate?

They belong in the same operating model. AI systems are increasingly built and run by third parties, so AI risk is often vendor risk under another name. ISG governs both through common frameworks, controls and the ISG GovernX® platform, giving you one accountable view across suppliers, contracts and AI rather than two disconnected efforts. Our AI Governance practice goes deeper where AI-specific policy, controls and regulatory readiness are needed.

Does ISG only advise, or can you run governance for us?

Both. We work as an advisor, as a managed service running your governance day to day, or through build-operate-transfer, where we stand the capability up, run it, then hand it back to your team. The model flexes to your maturity and how much you want to keep in-house.

What is ISG GovernX?

ISG GovernX® is our governance platform. It brings real-time visibility, vendor performance analytics, contract intelligence, financial governance and executive dashboards into one place, with automated workflows and AI-driven early warnings. It's the technology layer beneath the people and the process, so governance runs on evidence instead of spreadsheets and memory.
